Recent Advances in the Science and Technology of Zeolites and Related Materials: Proceedings of the 14th International Zeolite Conference, Cape Town, Recent Advances in Science and Technology of Zeolites and Related Materials is a collection of oral and poster communications, presented during the 14th International Zeolite Conference (IZC). The conference was hosted by the Catalysis Society of South Africa. In the tradition of the IZC series, this Conference provides a forum for the presentation of new knowledge in the science and technology of zeolites and related materials. Papers presented cover a wide range of topics that include synthesis, structure determination, characterisation, modelling, and catalysis. This highly visual book is a must for readers looking to stay up-to-date on zeolite science.
Interpreting Archaeology: Finding Meaning in the Past by Ian Hodder, Interpreting Archaeology argues that archaeologists must understand their own subjective approaches to the material they study as well as recognize how past researchers imposed their value systems on the evidence they presented. This volume provides a forum for debate between the varied approaches to the past from leading archaeologists in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. The contributors address the philosophical issues involved in interpretation and the origins of meaning in the evolution and emergence of "mind" in early hominids. They discuss the ways in which material culture is understood and presented in museums, and how the nature of history is itself in flux.
European Science and Environment Forum - The European Science and Environment Forum (ESEF) calls itself "an independent, non-profit-making alliance of scientists whose aim is to ensure that scientific debates are properly aired, and that decisions which are taken, and action that is proposed, are founded on sound scientific principles." Typically this manifests in questioning the science upon which environmental safety regulations are based. Science Fiction Forum - The Science Fiction Forum, founded in 1968 by James Frenkel, is a student club at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Polymorphism (materials science) - Polymorphism in materials science is the ability of a solid material to exist in more than one form or crystal structure. Polymorphism can potentially be found in any crystalline material including polymers and metals and is related to allotropy which refers to elemental solids. Science journalism - Science journalism is a relatively new branch of journalism, which utilizes the art of reporting to convey information on science topics to a public forum. The communication of scientific knowledge via mass media requires a special relationship between the world of science and news media, which is still just beginning to form.
